All Souls Lost by Dan Moren

Robert B. Parker's Spencer meets The Dresden Files in this new supernatural mystery from Dan Moren.

My first read of the new year is in the books (ha...I'll see myself out) and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Not that I'd expected to be, of course. I've been a fan of Moren's Galactic Cold War spy-fy series from the beginning, and although All Souls Lost is a turn from the sci-fi he's known for, it's still packed with all the things we love about a Dan Moren book: characters we care about, whiplash-inducing plot twists, bouts of zany action, and fully imagined worlds that take you on vacation from reality for a bit.

I remember hearing Dan talk about this one a few years back, so I was particularly excited to finally get a chance to read it. And like I said, it was a great read and a great way to kick off the new year.

If old school detective noir, Lovecraftian urban horror, snappy humor, and a healthy dose of Boston charm are your thing, I suspect you'll love this one too.
